This
course is ideal for businesses needing to qualify staff
to the level of Appointed Persons, now EFAW, to take
responsibility for first aid in an emergency. It is
also recommended for those staff giving support to First
Aiders in larger organisations and can be tailored to
meet the needs of the work environment. Continuous assessment
of participants practical skills takes place throughout
the course.
To offer the opportunity for
an individual who may become the Appointed Person or
Emergency First Aider to gain the skills and knowledge
to provide quality and effective first aid whenever
the need may occur. This is achieved through an understanding
of the general duties, legal responsibilities and treatment
principles of first aid.

Aims
At the end of the course participants will be
able to:
- Assess
and prioritise a first aid incident.
- Deal
with an unconscious casualty.
- Carry
out resuscitation (CPR).
- Control
bleeding and manage shock.
- Be
able to recognise and deal with a wide range
of common injuries until the arrival of medical
care.
- Maintain
records.
- Use
and maintain first aid kits.
