20 April 2011 - A day to remember
for YMS Training - after only a couple of years in business, we
have our own dedicated Training Centre.

NECC member YMS Training Ltd has
won a luxurious prize for participating in a Teesside University
skills survey.
In February of this year, the University tapped
in to the Chamber's assistance, using the database of members
to conduct its High-Level Skills survey. As an incentive to take
part in the study, half a case of champagne was offered as a prize
to one lucky participant.
Operational Director for YMS Training Ltd,
Sandra McGeachy, was delighted to hear they had won the prize,
which she accepted from the University last week on behalf of
the business.
An accredited training centre based in Seaham,
the company specialises in courses from First Aid and Manual Handling
to Security and Teacher Training.
As a special thank you to the Chamber and to
Teesside University, the company is offering all NECC members
for June and July a massive 20% discount from their PTLLS (Preparing
to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector) courses. Members are
asked to quote the reference NECC1 when booking.
The University survey was circulated to over
900 NECC member organisations, taking the form of an online questionnaire.
Its aim was to investigate employer views of high-level skills
and the extent to which they are prepared to pay for associated
training.
Catherine Kearney, Enterprise & Business
Liaison Manager at Teesside University said: "It was important
to administer the survey to a diverse but accessible sample of
businesses, and we thank NECC for allowing us to use their member
list for this purpose."
The survey revealed that the majority of businesses
(89%) rate high-level skills as important or very important, with
high quality provision being the main factor for most (82%) to
determine which training provider they use.
Catherine added: "The findings identified
in the study will help us meet the needs of our business customers,
and will also act as a prelude to a more detailed research exercise
later in the year."
